How to: Install Adjustable Strike Plate

How to Install an Adjustable Strike Plate Changing weather and temperatures can warp doors and cause your smart lock to get out of alignment. If your smart lock is out of alignment, it may not be able to lock properly. You can install an adjustable strike plate for your smart lock so that you can adjust the alignment when the weather changes. To install the adjustable strike plate, you will need the new strike plate and a phillips head screwdriver. Go to your smart lock and open the door to access the strike plate on the door frame. We will be working with the strike plate fro the door handle, not the deadbolt. By aligning the strike plates, your smart lock will be able to lock properly Remove the old strike plate by removing the two screws with the phillips head screwdriver Place the new plate where the old plate was and align the adjustment plate over the top of the existing screw holes. You can move the bottom plate in order to adjust the location of the hole for the the dead bolt When you have the strike plate where you want it, replace the screws with the phillips screwdriver Test the strike plate position by closing the door and pressing the lock button on your smart lock. If it is able to lock smoothly, then the adjustment was successful. If the lock catches, you will need to open the door and loosen the screws in the strike plate to make further adjustments
