How to: Ping Camera Motion Detection Settings

Video Motion Detection is how your Vivint Ping camera knows when to record a clip and send you notifications. The Ping camera will constantly look for motion in your motion window and record a clip when motion is found. Because every home is different, there are some settings that you can adjust to optimize your Ping camera. To access your Ping camera settings, first go to the home screen on your SkyControl panel Tap the camera icon in the navigation bar Tap your Ping camera Tap the gear icon in the top right to open the camera settings Enter your 4-digit Admin PIN Scroll down and tap ‰Û÷Detection Settings‰Ûª From here, you will see your motion detection box plus the motion sensitivity bars. For your motion detection box, it is best to have a smaller box in the area that you would expect someone to walk through. Having a motion detection box that is too large can lead to false readings. You should also avoid things that may move in the room such as fans or curtains. Windows can also cause false motion triggered videos, especially if there are plants outside that could blow in the wind, so it is a good idea to avoid them in your motion detection box. The motion sensitivities are usually best left at their default medium settings. However, if your Ping camera does not seem to be catching enough motion, you can turn the sensitivity up till you are comfortable that it is detecting the proper amount. A higher motion sensitivity will lead to more motion detection notifications and recordings. For more information, please visit support.vivint.com
